Meet Carmen! Carmen came to the Behavioral Rehabilitation Center from a local shelter where she was feeling unsure of the world. Now thriving in a foster home, this sweet and spirited girl is discovering just how fun life can be!

Whether Carmen is chasing squeaky balls in the yard, lounging in a sunny window or curling up on the couch for a good snuggle, she soaks it all in. She’s curious, affectionate and always up for a game of fetch. She’s a total pro and will happily keep the game going as long as you’re willing! This foodie will also work for a tasty treat, which makes training an easy bonding experience. She’s adjusting well to home life — she is doing well with crate time, sleeps quietly through the night and rides calmly in the car with the breeze in her face.

Though Carmen can be shy when meeting new people or in unfamiliar environments, she is making steady progress. With support from her foster dog sibling and favorite people, she is gaining confidence every day. She often follows her dog friend’s lead when meeting strangers and, once she feels comfortable, becomes a total cuddle bug eager to snuggle and stay close.

Carmen enjoys playtime with other dogs and may do well with a compatible canine companion. Her playstyle is lively and enthusiastic, with plenty of chase games and the occasional wrestling. While she may sometimes get overexcited, she listens well to corrections from both her people and other dogs. Slow introductions and supervised play help her settle into new friendships. She also prefers to be near other dogs and may appreciate having a buddy to go on walks with.
